James Wheable

Built in the Room.
Not from the Sidelines.

Over the last 25 years, I've been in one business: growing human capability. The tools have changed. The work hasn't.

I've worked across four countries, more than 15 industries, and trained thousands of people — from first-day sales reps to senior leadership teams. The thread through all of it has been the same: helping people see what they're capable of, then building the structure to make it repeatable.

I started in direct sales — cold calling, door-to-door, B2B campaigns, telemarketing. The kind of work where you learn fast because nobody's polite about telling you what's not working. That became running teams, then building sales organisations, then consulting to businesses across industries on how to get more out of their people. Now I work with small business owners, professional services operators, and growth-focused companies across Australia. Not as a technologist. As someone who understands how people actually work — and where they're leaving time, money, and clarity on the table. AI is the best tool I've ever worked with. But the work has always been the same.

Based on the Gold Coast · Available by conversation

Most businesses don't have a technology problem. They have a clarity problem. The tools exist. The capability is there. What's missing is someone who can sit across from you, understand your actual work, and show you exactly where the gain is.

AI has changed what's possible for a five-person business. The same capability that required a department now fits inside a conversation with the right tool. But the tool is not the point. The point is whether the person holding it knows what to do with it — and whether the person teaching them has ever done the work themselves.

Twenty-five years of building and leading sales teams — across countries, across industries, from the doorstep to the boardroom — teaches you one thing above everything else: people don't change because they're told to. They change because someone made the next step obvious and the first step easy.

What Governs the Work

Performance Is Structural

High performance is not a mindset. It is the result of decisions made before the work begins — who you hire, how you train them, what you measure, and what you refuse to tolerate. The people who win are not more motivated. They are better built.

Read the Room

The best strategy in the world fails if you can't read the person sitting across from you. Twenty-five years in direct sales built an instinct for what people actually need versus what they say they need. This is not a soft skill. It is the commercial skill.

Simplicity as Strategy

Complexity is not a sign of sophistication. It is usually a sign that someone hasn't done the thinking. If it doesn't work on a Tuesday afternoon when you're tired and distracted, it doesn't work.

Build the Person, Not the Process

Tools change. Models update. Platforms merge and disappear. The person who learns how to think with AI — not just type into it — takes that skill with them. Teach the human, not the hack.

What I Build

Sales training that builds performers.
I train salespeople and sales teams — from first-day reps to experienced operators. Structure, behaviour, accountability. Not motivational talks.
AI training that people actually use.
I sit with business owners and their teams and teach them how to use AI in their actual work. Hands-on, practical, no theory. They walk out using it the next day.
Ongoing AI coaching.
For people who've started but need someone in their corner — weekly support, real tasks, real accountability. Not a course you forget about.
Business clarity through better decisions.
I help business owners see where they're wasting time, money, and energy — and fix it simply.
Training that works after I leave.
Everything I build is designed to stay in the business. Methodologies, frameworks, and habits that stick without me in the room.

Current Ventures

Applied AI Consulting

Sits with business owners — in their context, with their problems — and builds practical AI capability they use the next day. Not theory. Working tools for real weeks.

AI-Trained Workforce Development

Builds the training architecture and quality systems that produce capable, AI-literate operators for businesses that can't afford to train them internally.

Sales and Performance Training

Two decades of building, leading, and training sales teams from the ground up. The methodology is the same at every level — structure the environment, train the behaviour, measure what matters.

Strategic Advisory

For business owners operating at complexity — multiple revenue streams, growing teams, decisions that need sharper thinking than a gut feeling can provide. Built on commercial experience, not business school frameworks.

AiVA Group

AI-trained virtual assistants placed into Australian professional services businesses. AiVA recruits, trains, and manages the VAs — so the client gets AI-literate support without building the capability internally.

Background

The technology will keep changing. It always does. What doesn't change is the work — understanding people, building capability, making the complex simple, and giving someone the tools to perform at a level they didn't think was available to them. That is what twenty-five years of commercial work has been about. AI is the most powerful chapter yet. But it is a chapter, not the book.
